I don't believe you read my post properly. I fixed power steering with the alternator and battery and belt replacement. And I didn't yet have the problem where my car would not start at all. Answered by Honest John. The car has EPAS. In the Punto an early incarnation of electric power assisted steering in which an electric motor is clamped around the steering column. Holding the steering on full lock shorts out this motor and leads to damage. This EPAS in an 11 year old has already lasted far longer than most do.
Using a suitable suction device, siphon the power steering fluid from the power steering fluid reservoir. Remove the RH inner fender splash shield.
